    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. How do I get connected with a doctor?

You can schedule an appointment when you need it and access a medical provider online from your smartphone, desktop computer or tablet equipped with video camera and speakerphone. You can also call our virtual receptionist for assistance Monday through Friday 9 am – 6 pm (EST) or Saturday 9 am- 12 pm (EST). You (the patient) need to have a reliable internet connection during the entire telehealth visit. We suggest that you find a comfortable, private, quiet and well-lighted area at a home or office prior to actual online appointment visit. After the registration, you will receive an email with the link to be connected with a healthcare provider. NOTE: You can also request a consultation by calling our receptionist or using your patient portal created during initial registration.

    2. What can I expect from a telehealth visit with an UCO Medical Clinic?

Medical information that you provided us with prior to the actual consultation, including prior medical history, allergies, list of medications, prior lab studies or imaging results and current health complains will be reviewed by a healthcare practitioner prior to your online visit. We will send you a link to get connected with a health provider. You will receive a face-to-face consultation in the same way as it is done at the traditional doctor’s office. If technologically possible and appropriate, a health provider will perform a medical exam. After your online consultation, you will receive a tentative or exact explanation of your condition and medical recommendations with a plan of action. The treatment plan may include referrals for diagnostic studies, prescription for medication(s) or referral for further in-office evaluation by a doctor. In certain cases, your condition may require treatment at the traditional urgent care or Emergency Room settings.

    3. Where I will be able to have blood or radiological tests performed if ordered by UCO Medical Clinic providers?

UCO Medical Clinic offers affordable labs and radiology testing at contracted laboratory and imaging facilities throughout the Greater Miami area. For patients covered by health insurance, we can submit the laboratory or radiology test request to a facility geographically convenient for you.

    4. How will I obtain my test results? Should I pay again to receive an explanation of my test results?

If you choose not to have a further online consultation with our health practitioner, you do not have to pay additional fees to receive explanation of your tests results.  The test results will be reviewed by qualified practitioner and explanations with recommendations will be sent to your patient portal (created during the initial registration process). You can access your patient portal 24/7 . You lab tests or radiology results are always accessible by you for further treatment or consultation with your doctor.  We can also initiate treatment (or prescribe you medications) based on the test results when medically warranted.

Note: A new online or in-office consultation prior to initiation of the treatment/therapy may be necessary if deemed appropriate by Urgent Care Online medical director. Regular online or in-office visit fees will apply.

    5. How will I receive my prescription?

Your prescription will be sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. You can select a pharmacy near you during the registration process.

    6. Will UCO Medical Clinic pay for my medications?

No. The cost of medications prescribed to you is solely your responsibility.

    7. Will my health insurance pay for medications or tests ordered by UCO Medical Clinic provider?

Yes, depending on the benefits under your current health insurance plan. Your insurance may cover your medications, lab tests and/or radiological studies ordered by UCO Medical Clinic providers as though they were ordered by your primary (traditional) care doctor. You may want to call your insurance prior to having any of the testing.

Note: in some cases, your health insurance plan may not cover certain medications prescribed or may require you to have a pre-authorization prior to certain diagnostic and laboratory testing.  Your health insurance may also require you to pay out of pocket deductibles and copays in the same manner as if the tests were ordered at actual medical office by your traditional doctor or PCP.

    8. Does UCO Medical Clinic accept health insurance plans for online consultations?

No. At this time, we do not accept health insurance for online consultations. We accept all types of credit or debit cards. Our regular online consultation fee is only $49 per telehealth visit/exam.

    9. Do I still need to keep my regular doctor (PCP, family practitioner, specialist, etc.)?

UCO Medical Clinic is not a substitution for the regular/routine visits to your doctors. During your telehealth visit, we will provide you with sound medical information and when appropriate, treatment for minor ailments based on the limited evaluation via video-audio patient-practitioner interaction. We always recommend you to have a prompt follow up visit with your physician. You should keep your regular doctors’ appointments as well.

    10. Do you prescribe controlled substance medication (narcotics)?

No, we do not prescribe narcotics or psychiatric medications.

    11. Do I still have to pay the lab or diagnostic imaging center for my tests?

No, if you are going to have testing performed at the contracted office facilities. We already negotiated highly discounted rates for our patients, and thus we can pass the savings onto you! UCO Medical Clinic will collect payment for the study(ies) and send you a Test Request Form indicating the test/lab ordered and the location of the testing center. You will also get a receipt from us that the test had already been paid for.

    12. How long does it take to get the lab or diagnostic imaging results?

Depending on the test or study ordered,  it may take from 3 to 7 days for you to get the actual results.
